North Ocean Boulevard Seawall Replacement
Palm Beach, Florida, USA
The North Ocean Boulevard Seawall Replacement consisted of the installation of a new seawall just westward of the existing seawall, followed by demolition and removal of the old seawall. The project began with preconstruction services that included successful value engineering to reduce material costs. The new seawall was constructed using steel sheet piling topped with a concrete cap and parapet wall. Tie backs and deadmen were also installed as part of the seawall. After construction of the new seawall was complete, the old seawall was carefully dismantled and removed. The project also included installation of an exfiltration storm drainage system, new curbing, roadway reconstruction, milling and paving, and was finished with landscaping and irrigation throughout the length of the project.
The Seawall Replacement was completed in front of the highly renowned Palm Beach County Club and required special consideration because of this location. Daily vibration monitoring was employed to ensure no surrounding properties were damaged and vehicular traffic was maintained throughout the entire project duration. The Seawall Replacement was delivered to the Town of Palm Beach on time and significantly under budget.
